NEW! CPA pushing for mutual recognition of design review agreement between provinces

Print this Article

The Office of the Fire Commissioner announced in June that they will be recognizing the design review of boilers and pressure vessels from other provinces. Registration of the Canadian Registration Number (CRN) in Manitoba would still be required.

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC), under the Provincial-Territorial Advisory Committee (PTAC), is working on an agreement among the provinces to mutually recognize the design reviews. The expected implementation date of the agreement will be in early 2020.

The provinces are currently in discussions on the agreement, and the CPA is actively engaging the committee to ensure this moves forward, as it will result in both a reduction of time and cost to the industry.

Mutual Recognition of Design Review document for more details.
