NEW! Good news for propane! Propane fuel system on converted vehicles no longer requires requalification at regular intervals in Alberta

Print this Article

Alberta Municipal Affairs stated in a recent notice, Conversion fuel system on motor vehicles re-inspection interval amendment, that the propane fuel system on a converted vehicle no longer requires requalification at regular intervals. Previously, converted vehicles required requalification every five years and were given labels with an expiry date.

The CSA B149.5-15 Installation code for propane fuel systems and containers on motor vehicles requirement to have a provincial label on the vehicle remains but the labels will no longer feature an expiry date. Vehicles converted or re-inspected prior to August will no longer require requalification and may continue to be fuelled; updated labels without expiries will be mailed to the owners of these vehicles.

The CPA reminds members that owners are responsible for the safe operation of their vehicles. This positive development results from Premier Jason Kenney’s promise to decrease regulatory red tape across the Alberta government.
