NEW! ON TSSA Risk Reduction Group resolutions identified to create more effective and productive meetings

Print this Article

The TSSA operates Risk Reduction Group (RRG) meetings to support its strategic objective to improve safety outcomes and garner industry input. Meetings occur biannually, usually in the summer and fall. Meeting agendas are developed with input from both TSSA and RRG/Propane Advisory Council members with a rationale for each item on how it meets the risk reduction criteria and applies to the Ontario industry.

The RRG met on October 16, 2019 and discussed several ongoing and new items of importance to Ontario CPA members. This was the first meeting attended by Ontario Regional Director, Marcelline Riddell, as a new RRG member.

The CPA is suggesting the following improvements, in collaboration with the TSSA and RRG members, to make the meetings more effective:

  • Submit meeting packages in advance to provide review time and ensure items are in scope of the RRG;
  • To ensure agenda items are advanced, the TSSA should begin tracking and taking ownership of advancing files coming from RRG meeting discussions; and
  • Draft meeting minutes that clearly reflect discussions and decisions in addition to circulating the minutes for comments, with a set deadline.

The CPA has raised these issues with TSSA President & CEO Bonnie Rose and will continue to raise these issues and discuss administrative and policy remedies with TSSA senior executives to make a case for change in advance of the next RRG meeting in early 2020.

For more information, please contact Marcelline Riddell, Director, Government Relations, Ontario, at 647-881-1483 or at marcellineriddell@propane.ca.
