Federal – Rail Security Regulations come into force May 6, 2020

The Rail Security Regulations applies to rail loaders and comes into force May 6, 2020. (See NEW! Transport Canada introduces TDG by Rail Security Regulations, published in the RA Newsletter May 23, 2019)
 
Companies that are loading or unloading rail cars at their facilities are required to follow these regulations, which Transport Canada says aim to mitigate security risks on Canada’s railways.
 
Propane that is categorized as a Class 2.1 in a single means of containment and in a quantity that exceeds 3 000 L, must have:
All other propane rail car loading facilities require:
  • Security Awareness Training (Section 14 of the Regulations
