Update: Federal – Compliance issues with highway tank facilities

Print this Article

The CPA received notification that some highway tank facilities are experiencing delays in the Transport Canada (TC) approval process (see NEW! Federal – Compliance issues with highway tank facilities published December 19, 2019, for details on TC’s inspection findings at highway tank facilities). When the CPA contacted TC requesting further information, TC stated that these facilities were experiencing difficulty demonstrating their compliance with the requirements as laid out in CSA B620 Highway tanks and TC portable tanks for the transportation of dangerous goods and Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (SOR /2001-286).

The CPA reminds members to renew their certification for their means of containment facilities and to ensure that the facilities they are using are certified by checking the company registration on the Transport Canada website.

For any facilities that are experiencing issues specific to their particular facility, please contact CPA Senior Director of Regulatory Affairs, robertloenhart@propane.ca to discuss.
