The CPA/PTI is pleased to announce that a key element crucial to testing hoses with nitrogen used by many CPA members to meet hose testing requirements under the CSA B620 7.2.10 Hose Assembly Inspection and Testing will soon be included in PTI course material.

John Kielly, a trainer for Superior Propane, initially reached out to the CPA/PTI to suggest adding this testing procedure to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods – Propane Hose Inspection & Testing - 100-07 course material.

Other members who helped provide the groundwork include regulatory and technical specialists Gerald Bartels, Superior Propane and Jeremy Mitchell, Parkland who provided examples of procedures currently in use.  Ken Gillis, regulatory and technical specialist for Superior Propane then set up a meeting in Carleton Place, Ontario with technician Gerald Marshall who conducted a hose test and arranged for the CPA to photograph the process.

This update would not have been possible without the help of these experienced professionals. The CPA/PTI would like to acknowledge their help in improving our training provisions. We understand that it can be hard to break away from the hectic challenges that come with the start of the heating season and appreciate their efforts in helping us improve our course materials.

For any added suggestions or improvements to our PTI course content, members are invited to reach out to training@propane.ca so that we can continue to provide relevant and up-to-date content.
