NEW – QC: Propane retailers urged to report progress on pressure relief valves to the regulator

Print this Article

In 2018, the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) and the Association Québécoise du Propane (AQP)
signed an agreement that requires propane companies to report their progress on requalifying pressure relief valves to the RBQ twice a year until December 2023. However, the RBQ has recently reported that only a small number of companies are meeting this requirement.

The agreement applies to the requalification of relief valves installed on any horizontal or vertical tank, regardless of its individual capacity and designed and manufactured in accordance with CSA B51.

To support propane companies in meeting this requirement, the RBQ and AQP have developed a schedule that allows for easier and more efficient follow up. The AQP urges companies to meet the deadlines in the linked table (downloaded as an XL spreadsheet) and submit your information to Patrice.Poirer@rbq.gouv.gc.ca
