UPDATE: Federal – Transport Canada’s presentation reveals virtual inspection process preferred

Transport Canada’s February presentation provided insight into its virtual inspection process, revealing that whenever possible, remote oversight is currently the preferred method to conduct inspections. While TC has flagged “high risk” locations for in-person auditing, they indicate that most facilities can expect a virtual process.

Industry feedback indicates that some companies are experiencing technology issues with providing data, information security concerns, and long response times due to staff shortages. Most reports, however, indicated that although the new system is slightly onerous, it is generally well received.
