UPDATE – Federal: A win for CPA members! Transport Canada set to no longer require cylinder requalification document

Print this Article

A win for CPA members: Transport Canada is set to no longer require that their inspectors verify if distributors are providing a copy of the cylinder requalification document to new owners of a purchased container.  (See previous story: UPDATE – Federal: CPA pushing for modifications to cylinder requalification reports.)

The CPA had approached TC about the enforcement after members raised concerns. After several communications with TC, they have indicated to V-P Regulatory Affairs and Safety, Robert Loenhart, that a bulletin is being created to inform inspectors to not continue with the enforcement of this requirement. The bulletin is expected to be sent to inspectors in the coming weeks.

A docket has also been submitted to the CSA B339 Committee for examination. The docket submission was added to the agenda to request changes to both the CSA Code as well as to the TDG Regulations.

The CPA will continue to advocate for this change and will update members as the request progresses.
