NEW – QC: Declaration of atmospheric emissions 2020

Print this Article

The province of Québec published a notice on April 15, 2021 on the mandatory reporting of certain emissions of contaminants into the atmosphere.

Fuel distributors are required to submit a GHG emission report no later than June 1, 2021 if more than 200 litres of fuel were distributed between January 1 and December 31, 2020.

The following are definitions used by the government to determine who is deemed a covered fuel distributor – the first to engage in fuel consumption, exchange or sales activities in Québec:

  • The sale or exchange by an individual or a municipality of fuels that are refined, manufactured, mixed, prepared and/or distilled in Québec by the same individual or municipality.
  • The sale or exchange within Québec of fuels originating from outside Québec.
  • The importing of fuel into Québec.
  • The distribution of natural gas in Québec.

Information needed to produce your report is available in a separate section for fuel distributors on the Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques web site.
