UPDATE – Federal: Transport Canada extends equivalency certificate to defer cylinder PRV replacements

Print this Article

Transport Canada has responded to the CPA’s request to defer the replacement of pressure relief valves (PRV) in TC 4BWM16 cylinders by extending equivalency certificate TU 0807 (Ren. 1), which was set to expire at the end of the month, until September 30, 2022.

The temporary certificate, issued under subsection 31(2.1) of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, authorizes the filling of TCs4BWM16 specification cylinders that have a 450 L capacity and an expired pressure relief device.  TU 0807 considers the need to ensure the safe transportation of dangerous goods while providing the propane delivery industry with needed relief from certain requirements of the TDG Regulations as a result of COVID-19 implications.

This temporary certificate is subject to specific terms and conditions that must be followed if used.  The specifics can be found on the certificate, located on the CPA website
