Current provincial vaccination requirements across Canada

Rising Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations due to unvaccinated Canadians have prompted provinces to issue mandatory proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test for individuals 12 and over to gain access to public places. Retail businesses, grocery stores, healthcare services, professional or personal services, hotels, amateur sporting events, business meetings and place of business are closed to the general public.
Alberta 

September 20 – Single dose

Other measures due to Alberta’s declared state of emergency – effective Sept. 16:

Work From Home

  • Mandatory work-from-home measures unless a physical presence is required for operational effectiveness.

Gatherings

  • Unvaccinated Albertans cannot socialize with anyone outside their household. Fully vaccinated people may only have social interactions indoors with one other household to a maximum of 10 people, all of which must also be vaccinated.
  • Outdoor gatherings are allowed, up to 200 people.
Saskatchewan

October 1 – Two doses

Restaurants and other licensed venues; event and entertainment venues, including conference centres, movie theatres, concert venues, and indoor facilities hosting ticketed sporting events; indoor fitness venues and gyms. Retail businesses, grocery stores, healthcare services, professional or personal services, hotels, amateur sporting events, business meetings and place of business are closed to the general public
Manitoba

September 3

Indoor and outdoor ticketed sporting events and concerts;
indoor theatre /dance /symphony events; restaurants (indoor and patio dining);
nightclubs and other licensed venues; gaming establishments; movie theatres; indoor sporting and recreational facilities and group classes
Outdoor gathering limits reduced to a maximum 500 people from 1,500.
Ontario 

October 9

Capacity limits is lifted to allow 100% capacity in the following settings:

Concert venues, theatres and cinemas;
Spectator areas of facilities for sports and recreational fitness (would not include gyms, personal training);
Meeting and event spaces (indoor meeting and event spaces will still need to limit capacity to the number that can maintain physical distancing);
Horseracing tracks, car racing tracks, and other similar venues; and
Commercial film and television productions with studio audiences.

 

Additional information: The government released regulations and guidance for businesses and organizations to support the implementation of proof of vaccination requirements. An enhanced vaccine certificate and verification app will be available by October 22, 2021.

Quebec

September 1 – *

PEI

As of Sep. 17, additional measures in place include:

  • Border screening, testing and isolation for unvaccinated and partially vaccinated people coming to PEI until at least mid-October.
  • PEI residents should not travel off-Island unless it is necessary.
  • Personal gatherings will be limited to 20 people;
  • Non-medical masks will be mandatory for all Islanders in indoor places
NFLD & Labrador

October 8

 

Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has launched its vaccine passport. 

There will be a two-week grace period for residents fully vaccinated and businesses to download the apps before requirement for entry in public venues.
