REMINDER: New Insurance requirements and access to Group Insurance Plan

The CPA/PTI recently announced important changes to our requirements for trainer insurance coverage and a new way to access insurance.

As of January 1, 2022, all trainers conducting PTI training courses must have Professional Liability Insurance (also known as Errors & Omissions) at a minimum of $1,000,000 and Commercial General Liability Insurance at a minimum of $2,000,000.

The CPA/PTI is making this change based on recommendations from both our legal counsel and insurance consultants.

To that end, the CPA/PTI announced a new benefit program that will include access to an exclusive group insurance program offered by BFL Canada.

This new insurance program also includes a FREE Trainer Associate membership the first time you sign up for the insurance program.

The BFL insurance program meets and/or exceeds all PTI requirements.

BFL Canada is one of the leading insurance providers in the country and has partnered with other professional organizations in the past to offer similar insurance packages.

The CPA/BFL portal is open and accepts applications.

The portal will calculate your premium based on the training you provide to your clients, both PTI-related propane training, and other occupational health and safety programs you may be offering to your customers. It will include both general and professional liability (errors & omissions) coverage for your operations.

In addition, if your business has other insurance needs, (gas bar, mechanical repair services or other activities), you can access the group rates provided by BFL’s underwriters.

Purchasing through this group program will eliminate the need to provide PTI proof of insurance and make it easier to maintain coverage as a trainer.
