UPDATE – ON: CPA responds to TSSA’s revised propane fee proposal – industry will not endorse unacceptable fee increases

The CPA provided a thorough and considered response to the Technical Standard Safety Authority’s (TSSA) proposed revised fee schedule for propane in a letter to President and CEO Bonnie Rose on November 30, 2021.

The letter reflected significant and substantive input and analysis provided by CPA members and other impacted propane business leaders.

While the feedback acknowledged the revised structure would mitigate much of the impact for one category band, the industry consensus was that the proposed fee schedule would still result in unacceptable fee increases of approximately 30 per cent for all categories and could not, therefore, be endorsed by the industry.

CPA Senior VP of Regulatory Affairs and Safety, Rob Loenhart, outlined the industry’s continued request for improved transparency and data sharing on the authority’s behalf to demonstrate a true partnership. He also committed to ongoing dialogue with the TSSA to come to a more acceptable fee schedule for Ontario propane providers in 2022. Members will continue to be informed of any developments on this issue.

The letter may be accessed here.
