NEW – Distance learning options for recertification

Print this Article

Over the past several months, the PTI has been working on a procedure that would enable trainers to recertify propane certificates remotely through various video meeting services.

A process was drafted and sent to all Authorities Having Jurisdiction and a number of those jurisdictions reviewed the material and responded with approvals or suggestions.

PTI's Distant Learning Procedure has now been approved for use in B.C., Alberta, Nova Scotia, P.E.I., Saskatchewan and the Yukon, for re-certification training only.

As there are no re-certification requirements in Quebec and New Brunswick, this procedure is not applicable.

The TSSA in Ontario has acknowledged receipt of the procedure and is currently reviewing it. We are still waiting for approval from Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nunavut, and N.W.T.

Given the situation in British Columbia where some travel in the province has been restricted due to road closures, the approval of this distant learning procedure by the B.C. authority is timely and will be valuable for B.C. trainers and their customers.

The Distant Learning Procedure can be accessed in the online Document Centre (under all trainers documents).

Please follow the procedure carefully. For any questions, please reach out to PTI’s Director of Training, Francois Foucault, at francoisfoucault@propane.ca.
