ON: Ontario vows to scrap labour legislation - Bill 148

On October 2, 2018, Premier Ford vowed to scrap the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017 (Bill 148), which was passed by the previous Ontario government. The legislation was scheduled to come into effect on January 1, 2019, but is now currently under review.

The current government has also reaffirmed its commitment to stop the increase to minimum wage entirely.

The CPA continues to be actively engaged in addressing concerns brought forward by Ontario members regarding the pending changes to scheduling and the three-hour rule sections of the legislature.
