NEW – Federal: Review of Transport Canada standard TP14877

On October 13,  the Standards Council of Canada announced that Transport Canada has engaged with the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) to revert the Transport Canada standard TP14877 back to its status as a CGSB National Standard of Canada.TP14877 is a standard for “Containers for Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Rail”. The CPA has set up a sub-committee to examine the new document and now requires your input.

CPA members are concerned with the impossibility of loading rail cars at winter loading temperatures due to different interpretations of clause 61a of TP 14877 and the definition of storage. The CPA has set up a sub-committee to examine the new document and identify any perceived issues with the wording presented and provide alternatives. Feedback will be provided to the CGSB committee within a five-week timeframe.

The revision’s base document is starting with the original version, which can be found here.

Sub-committee members need your input about suggested changes to the standard. During these next three weeks, the committee would like to receive your feedback on identified changes. Please provide comments to robertloenhart@propane.ca on or before November 6, 2020.
