REMINDER - ON: TSSA Code Adoption Document 2020 – Feedback deadline Nov 23

On October 23, 2020 Ontario’s Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) posted the 2020 Code Adoption Document (CAD) for propane storage and handling. This move signals the Authority’s intention to proceed with adopting the National Code through the CAD for all regulated sectors that it announced on October 13, 2020.  A long-standing request of Propane Advisory Council (PAC) members and the industry as a whole, this effort will provide businesses with consistency across the country by aligning Ontario with other provinces and minimizing Ontario-specific amendments.

The Propane CAD is adopted by reference in O. Reg 211/01. The CAD adopts a series of national safety codes into regulation. This CAD was last updated and published in the April 10, 2017 version (Ref No. FS-224-17).

The documents for review may be accessed here.

Comments will be accepted until Monday, November 23. One month after that, the CAD will be published and come into effect within approximately 60 days of publication.

CPA PAC members are unanimous in their desire to have the CAD approved as is and immediately, and have expressed this view repeatedly to the TSSA.

The CPA will reiterate support for the immediate adoption of the federal CAD propane amendments in its response to the TSSA. If you wish to provide comment to the TSSA directly, please copy Government Relations Director, Ontario, Marcelline Riddell at marcellineriddell@propane.ca on your submission.
