NEW – Federal: Public Safety Canada offers guidance to mitigate cyber threats

While many organizations are equipped with tools and resources that can resolve common IT cyber incidents, there is a growing need to address and mitigate the risks associated with cyber incidents that impact the operational technology (OT) environments of organizations.

As technology becomes more integrated and sophisticated, having the capability to provide a coordinated and effective response to cyber threats across an entire business becomes increasingly essential. A joint IT/OT Cyber Incident Response Plan (CIRP) can ensure that an organization is equipped with the necessary skills and preparedness to respond to cyber threats that arise throughout all technological environments that an organization possesses and utilizes.

Public Safety Canada has provided a guideline that offers recommendations when creating a CIRP that can be catered to the specific needs of an organization, factors to consider when creating a corresponding Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), guidance on how to maintain the CIRP over time, as well as advice on how to think about common OT cyber related threats.
