NEW – Federal: SEND YOUR SAMPLES! Pressure relief valve study underway with Underwriters Laboratories of Canada

The CPA is pleased to announce that an agreement has been signed with Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) to evaluate CG-7 pressure relief device performance concerning service life in excess of the mandated 10-year replacement interval.

The CPA would like to thank the sub-committee members who have given so much time and effort and will continue to provide needed support to make this study a success.

The CPA now needs you: we have 60 days to provide our first samples. The study will require sampling from across the country to ensure an accurate depiction of samples from the various climates indicative to each province.

We invite members who wish to provide samples to begin collecting them now in preparation to send to ULC. To provide samples, pressure relief valves (PRV) should be tagged to indicate:

The sample PRVs should then be protected from further damage prior to being shipped and tested at a ULC facility. The CPA will inform members where to send samples once the address is known.

Please reach out to Robert Loenhart, Vice-President of Regulatory Affairs and Safety at robertloenhart@propane.ca to identify which valves are needed for the study and for any other questions.  As the study progresses, the CPA will keep members updated regarding the age of PRVs still needed for sample tests.
