Our industry lost an incredible man, David Cartwright, who passed away on August 30, 2021.
Having spent 40 years in the industry with Sparlings Propane (now part of Parkland Corporation), David was an incredible asset to the industry. While working in a fast-paced environment as a propane gas technician, he served on multiple code review committees for propane, was an industry mentor, and a CPA/Propane Training Institute industry trainer.
David gained the nickname ‘DOC’ because of his initials, D.O.C., by those who knew him. It was an apt description – he was a wealth of information regarding almost anything propane. His vast knowledge that came from working with propane for so many decades was a constant help as he worked to keep technicians, delivery drivers and consumers safe in their use of propane.
Not just a mentor for the propane industry, Doc brought his passion to the youth as well, having spent some 30 years working with Scouts Canada, helping scouters in Blyth Ontario for many decades.
It is industry members like Doc who have helped to build the foundation of our industry. He was a model example to others through his dedication to the sector and the kind manner he brought to his work daily. He will be missed by all.
The Canadian Propane Association would like to express its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues for their loss.
