The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is reminding consumers that it is illegal to fill up propane tanks and use adapters to transfer propane from a BBQ-type cylinder to a smaller cylinder sold by online retailers and promoted on YouTube.
The CPA has added a warning note on the consumer section of its website that it is illegal to refill cylinders without proper training. Refilling a non-refillable cylinder is dangerous as they are not made to withstand the process and the container could fail.
