Welcome to the first issue of Regulatory Affairs, your compliance and safety newsletter! Issued weekly, we hope that it will keep you updated and engaged on the latest regulatory matters. We want the newsletter to be as relevant as possible to you and we look forward to hearing your comments on this new format. Regulatory Affairs is distributed to CPA Members only and you are welcome to share with your colleagues or to encourage them to subscribe.

Mélanie Levac As of September 20, 2017, the BC Safety Authority is adopting a new operating name and identity. From now on, BC Safety Authority will be known as “Technical Safety BC”. For more details please click here. The TSSA is holding a Propane Safety Industry Workshop on Tuesday, October 17. To register, click here. The TSSA has issued an amendment to the Gaseous Fuels Code Adoption Document FS-225-17. It includes specific requirements for propane or natural gas heating appliances installed in livestock and poultry barns that vent into the barn space. PTI - Propane Training Institute
Free Access to CSA Standards
On July 12, 2017, an amendment entitled Regulations Amending the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDGR) (International Harmonization Update, 2016) was published in Part II of the Canada Gazette. The adopted amendments are accessible here. Ongoing Consultation & Updates
The CPA is working closely with Members on Transport Canada’s notice that some propane companies are transporting propane in stationary tanks permanently mounted (e.g., bolted or welded) on trailers. The Fuel Safety Section of the Technical Safety Division issued FS17-06 Fuel Safety Code Adoption Information Sessions. It is holding stakeholder information sessions throughout Nova Scotia to introduce several new code editions the province is seeking to adopt under the Technical Safety Standards Regulations.
