The CPA holds a number of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) equivalency certificates on behalf of members. These allow activities related to transporting dangerous goods to be carried out in a way that do not comply with the TDG Regulations, if they provide an equivalent level of safety. This week, the CPA is attending a number of meetings to discuss the transportation of dangerous goods. Free Access to CSA Standards
A recent amendment to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations introduced ambulatory references to allow stakeholders to use the most recent versions of certain international codes and safety standards for a means of containment. Whenever a new edition of dynamically-referenced standards is published, stakeholders will have six months from the day the revised standards are published to comply. Ongoing Consultation & Updates
On October 27, the CPA met with Transport Canada on this issue at which time they re-confirmed their openness to providing a transition period to companies who would experience undue hardship if immediate compliance was imposed. Transport Canada will be granting temporary certificates on a case by case basis; therefore, each company in need of a transition period should submit an application to Transport Canada.
