Technical Safety BC Information Bulletin: Gas Contractor Responsibility to Request Commissioning Approval Assessment for Specific Gas Appliances released on December 1, 2017 details the mandatory Commissioning Approval (CA) assessment request requirement for gas appliances specified in section 26(2) of the Gas Safety Regulation (GSR).

The CPA BC Committee's December 5 meeting discussed strengthening the relationship with the association, local permit requirements, including the importance of adhering to equivalency certificates, and the potential to increase the uptake of auto propane with the new European push nozzle. 

Members should take the necessary steps to comply by January 12, 2018 with CSA B622-14 – Selection and use of highway tanks, TC portable tanks, and ton containers for the transportation of dangerous goods, Class 2, which requires that diesel engines on highway tanks and portable tanks containing dangerous goods of Class 2.1 and being used during loading and off-loading shall be equipped with an automatic engine air intake shut-off device. 

On July 12, 2017, an amendment to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations introduced ambulatory references to allow stakeholders to use the most recent versions of certain international codes and safety standards for a means of containment.

As of December 7, the Codes and Standards Committee will be known as the Regulatory Affairs Committee. The committee terms of reference will soon be updated to reflect this change.
