Due to an amendment that was published on June 20, 2017 with respect to subsection 5.10 (2) of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, Equivalency Certificate SU 11773 is no longer required. As such, the certificate is hereby revoked. The Government of Canada plans to put in place Clean Fuel Standard (CFS) Regulations under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, to reduce Canada’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Members should take the necessary steps to comply by January 12, 2018 with CSA B622-14 – Selection and use of highway tanks, TC portable tanks, and ton containers for the transportation of dangerous goods, Class 2, which requires that diesel engines on highway tanks and portable tanks containing dangerous goods of Class 2.1 and being used during loading and off-loading shall be equipped with an automatic engine air intake shut-off device. On July 12, 2017, an amendment to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations introduced ambulatory references to allow stakeholders to use the most recent versions of certain international codes and safety standards for a means of containment.
