Finally, we welcome two new board members: Richard Charbonneau, Director, Budget Propane & P38 of Québec and Darren Rousch, General Manager, Keyera, Alberta. To read the news release, click here. New employees always take time to get up to speed, but did you know that young employees need to be taught more? As a new employee with experience in the workforce, we all understand that there are certain measures we need to use to keep ourselves safe. To a skilled worker, it is common sense, however, sometimes experienced workers forget that younger new hires need additional basic training requirements that would not be necessary for a worker that has been in the workforce for many years. Consult gathering limitations across the provinces As provinces begin to further open up across Canada, the size of groups for indoor and outdoor public and private gatherings are being adjusted. To assist you in determining if you are able to host a training session, and under what conditions, please consult the updated group numbers. CPA’s Vice-President of Regulatory Affairs and Safety Robert Loenhart has been approached to provide input on a number of committees and advisory groups. The newest addition includes the Canadian Standards Association’s Propane Autogas Technical Committee, a North American-based committee attempting to harmonize regulations between the U.S. and Canada. He is also now participating on the Propane Autogas Advisory Council, a Canadian based council that examines all regulatory requirements for the propane motive fuel industry. The CPA has created a number of valuable resources to support members during the pandemic, including specific information for trainers. The CPA has received the new equivalency certificate SU 13263 that allows CPA members to attach riveted plates onto TC Series-4 containers once they have been requalified. The equivalency certificate was issued on January 31, 2020 and is available on the CPA website. PTI - Propane Training Institute
The Propane Training Institute is pleased to deliver an additional online solution to its certified trainers. With this initiative, PTI will no longer require trainers to complete the training summary sheet and send a trainee’s certificate by mail or email. Free Access to CSA Standards
The CSA Group has launched an online platform that allows registered users free access to Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) safety standards published by CSA Group referenced in federal TDG regulations. Users can now log into Communities of Interest and register to find the TDG View Access site here. CPA Committee Updates
