Transport Canada is looking for feedback on the draft of the CAN/CGSB 192.3 – Transportation of Dangerous Goods Training, Assessment and Competency. Once the standard is finalized, it will be adopted into part 6 of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations. Comments must be submitted on this form by October 24, 2019. Transport Canada is interested in pursuing electronic shipping documents and is looking to pilot this project with select companies. If you have any feedback on electronic shipping documents or are interested in this pilot project, please contact Rebecca Keeler at 613-799-0935 or at rebeccakeeler@propane.ca. The CPA thanks all members who have completed the CPA member survey, Addressing Regulatory Barriers - Request for Stakeholder Comments. It will remain open for another month – until October 5, 2019 – to allow for more members to provide important feedback. Authorities having jurisdiction in the Atlantic provinces are looking at harmonizing safety regulations to reduce administrative burden. The premiers are accelerating the process and are looking to implement harmonized regulations by 2020. The CPA will take part in the consultation sessions expected to start this fall 2019. As part of Atlantic Canada's harmonization initiative, in August of this year, the CPA submitted a letter to the Harmonization Committee regarding training requirements at cardlock/keylock facilities, with the intent of eliminating the training requirements for persons refuelling propane vehicles. This was achieved in Ontario, and the CPA’s goal is to continue this process in Atlantic Canada. PTI - Propane Training Institute
