The Technical Standards and Safety Authority's latest report shows a decrease in the number of injuries to Ontarians, especially at operating plants and propane sites. Health Canada has issued a recall for White-Rodgers Gen II Intellivent propane and natural gas control valves manufactured between May 21, 2018 and September 30, 2018. As stated in the April 29 Regulatory Affairs newsletter, the B.C. government will require mandatory entry-level training for new Class 1 commercial driver’s licence applicants. It will exceed the minimum requirements set by the National Safety Code Standard for entry-level training of Class 1 drivers. The CPA and members are preparing for an upcoming meeting with the government of Saskatchewan on acceptable clearance distances between construction trailers and propane. CPA examined the requirements and has decided at this time that setting up to become a Producer Responsibility Organization in the Hazardous and Special Products process would be more beneficial for members who already have transporter and requalification systems in place. Due to significant interest in the Ontario government’s draft administrative penalties regulation for Hazardous and Special Products, the timeline for industry input has been extended from November 1 until November 19, 2021. The CPA would like to thank members who sent pressure relief valve (PRV) samples for the study of CG-7 PRVs and their possible use beyond the mandated 10-year replacement interval.
