Given the situation in Ukraine, Natural Resources Canada is encouraging all critical energy infrastructure operators to bolster their awareness of and protection against Russian state-sponsored cyber threats by emailing the Energy Partnerships Team at the Cyber Centre and registering as a partner.

The CPA recently sent a letter to the minister of transportation requesting Transport Canada’s intervention with rail providers to address increasingly inadequate rail service for propane shipments.

Alberta Municipal Affairs issued STANDATA bulletin 20-GCB-008[REV2] to inform the propane industry of requirements related to the installation of liquefied petroleum gas storage vessels in domestic, commercial and industrial applications.

Manitoba Inspection and Technical Services recently issued Gas Equipment Bulletin ITS 22-002, which affects the propane industry and the requirements respecting the responsibilities for installing propane tanks with a capacity of more than 10,000 USWG (L) total aggregate water capacity.

The CPA has identified a potential key benefit for Ontario’s propane industry in the proposals identified in the next red tape and burden reduction package included in Bill 84, Fewer Fees, Better Services Act.

A new centralized system for scheduling inspection services is being implemented on April 15, 2022, as part of the Technical Standards and Safety Authority’s technology upgrades.
