CPA ONLINE MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS HAVE BEEN SENT TO ALL PRIMARY CONTACTS! The CPA has submitted a request for a permanent provision of hours of service extensions to the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators for review and approval. A permanent HOS exemption would speed up the application process by eliminating the need for individual extensions to be submitted each time one is required, which becomes ineffective during emergency situations. Once feedback from the CCMTA is received, the CPA will work to secure approvals from the provinces and territories, as well as from Transport Canada. Transport Canada’s interpretation and application of a TDG regulation requirement may cause a facility to unknowingly be out of compliance when conducting mobile cylinder requalifications. The Low Carbon Fuels Division has posted a Flow Chart of Participants on the Clean Fuel Regulations Google Drive, in folder 1.1. It was developed to help interested parties determine what type of role, if any, they may have in the Clean Fuel Regulations. This is a reminder that Technical Safety BC has adopted new CSA Codes, which came into effect on October 1, 2022. TSBC says these codes have been developed to improve the safety of gas technical equipment, boost efficiency, and facilitate innovation. The British Columbia Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy is conducting targeted engagement with select stakeholders and partners in the implementation of its Extended Producer Responsibility Five-Year Action Plan 2021-2026. The plan outlines a phased approach to regulating more products through extended producer responsibility. On November 1, Nova Scotia’s Fuel Safety Section announced the province is now accepting the PTI course, 100-03 Transportation of Dangerous Goods Propane LPG Specific, as an approved training package for cylinder delivery drivers. NS is the only province that requires specific training for the delivery of cylinders, but the recent announcement now puts it more on par with other provinces for conducting these delivery tasks. For more information on the course, contact PTI’s Director of Training Operations, Sophie Léger Cormier. CPA Committee Updates
