CPA ONLINE MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS HAVE BEEN SENT TO ALL PRIMARY CONTACTS! New amendments to the Transportation Information Regulations regarding freight rail data were announced in the Canada Gazette, Part II in December. They include changes to data reporting and result in propane now being included in the data collected for commodities transported in Canada. The previous reporting did not require specific information on propane as a commodity. The federal government announced changes to the Passenger Automobile and Light Truck Greenhouse Gas Emission Regulations that would require all vehicles sold after 2035 to be 100% zero-emission vehicles (ZEV). This recall involves Ortal’s direct vent gas fireplaces installed by professionals, with model names Traditional 90 (TR90) and Traditional 110 (TR110) TR. The fireplaces have a black finish and run on propane or natural gas. Model number US90XXTRP1SNXLXX or US110XTRP1SNXLXXX is on the rating plate located at the bottom of the fireplace near the valve control. Improper installation of the fireplaces can lead to problems with heat release and/or ventilation, posing a fire hazard. For more information, please visit the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website. The Alberta Government has made changes to its Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act. Click on the link below to find out how they may affect propane. The CPA created a request for permanent provision of the Hours of Service Extension and forwarded it to the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA). While the council cannot provide feedback, their response that it was a well-written proposal and suggestion that it also be sent to Transport Canada is positive. Consequently, the CPA submitted the policy proposal to TC and will be meeting with them on January 31, 2023, to discuss the proposal. This equivalency certificate authorizes the certificate holder to display requalification marks in a manner that does not comply with CSA B339-18. Cylinders requalified in accordance with this equivalency certificate are marked on a new metal plate that is attached to the valve-protection collar of the cylinders by riveting.
