On September 27, Technical Safety BC issued the following Directives:

1. Gas Appliance Approvals
2. Mobile Outdoor Food Service Unit Gas Approval Requirements
3. Requirements for Connection of Fuel Supply to Mobile Units Manufactured Housing and Recreational Vehicles

Technical Safety BC has issued the following information bulletin for review and comment: Gas Contractor Responsibility to Request Commissioning Approval Assessment for Specific Gas Appliances. Deadline to comment is Thursday, October 5, 2017.

PTI has completed capturing and preparing hundreds of new images for use in all student materials. These photos will support students with more up-to-date and accurate reflections of processes and regulatory requirements in the propane industry. 

Ongoing Consultation & Updates

The CPA continues to work closely with Members and Transport Canada on the subject of stationary tanks permanently mounted on trailers.  On September 19, the CPA sent a letter to Transport Canada seeking clarification on this important matter. We expect to receive a response from Transport Canada soon.  View a copy of the letter on The Grid. On September 29, 2017, Nova Scotia Environment Minister Iain Rankin introduced Bill 15 to amend the Environment Act, enabling the government to establish a cap and trade program and create supporting regulations.

CPA Committee Updates

Congratulations to two individuals who have stepped up to assume new leadership roles on the Transportation Committee:

  • Chair – Jim Bellwood, General Manager, Highlands Propane
  • Vice-Chair – Alex Beatty, President and CEO, Beatty Petroleum Consulting

Thank you to outgoing Chair Floyd Running: October 4 marked the end of the Transportation Committee chairmanship for Floyd Running. The CPA thanks Floyd for his extraordinary work and leadership for the last four years. We look forward to his continued involvement in the committee.

Events

The next CPA Alberta Committee meeting will be taking place on Thursday, October 19 at 10:30am. The meeting will be held at the Parkland Fuel Corp. installation in Red Deer, AB. A meeting agenda is currently under development. To confirm your attendance, please email melissamichaud@propane.ca.

The CPA Atlantic Committee will be meeting at the Four Points by Sheraton in Moncton, NB at 9:00am on Thursday, October 26.
