Last week, CPA’s Vice-President of Regulatory Affairs and Safety, Mélanie Levac, attended the Cooperative Hazardous Materials Enforcement Development Conference. The one-of-a-kind event is focused on regulations, enforcement and the safe transportation of dangerous goods.

The Ministry of Transportation in Ontario is harmonizing Class D license renewal and medical requirements with those already in place for all other commercial class licenses in the province. The changes for Class D drivers will come into force on July 1, 2018

On January 22, 2018, the Nova Scotia Chief Fuel Safety Inspector issued Fuel Safety Bulletin: FS18-01 – Construction Heat. Temporary construction heater use is high at this time of year and Fuel Safety inspectors are finding installations that are not in compliance with either the applicable code or the manufacturer’s instructions.

PTI - Propane Training Institute

Following a recent Transport Canada clarification regarding stationary tanks permanently mounted (bolted or welded) on trailers, the training package for 300-05: Cargo Loading and Securement: Propane Tanks, Cylinders & Equipment has been amended. Given that this amendment was not due to a regulatory amendment, the Canadian Propane Association / Propane Training Institute will replace workbooks and exams at no cost to you.
