The CPA is aware that refillable 1 lb cylinder kits are being sold in Canada. The product allows consumers to refill their cylinders and comes with a stand for a home barbecue 20 lb cylinder and connectors. Consumers must be reminded that there is a safety risk for those not properly trained in the use and hazards of propane. This recall involves Flame King, Little Kamper and U-Haul refillable propane cylinders used with outdoor appliances. Two incidents have been reported of the connecting valve starting to unscrew from the cylinder. No injuries have been reported. A draft of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Training, Assessment and Competency Standard and the associated updated training requirements will be released in the next month for a 60-day public comment period. The Reliable Propane Fiable©MD Commitment is aimed at enhancing risk management performance and elevating public perception about the safety and responsibility of the propane industry. Members can find out more information about the meaning of the Reliable Propane Fiable©MD Commitment and the new CPA membership branding in a section on the CPA website. Starting in August, the Regulatory Affairs Newsletter will be released every two weeks to allow for time to review, asses and share impacts of proposed regulatory changes with members.
