The CPA and members of the CPA E2 working group met with Environment and Climate Change Canada on Oct. 18, 2022, to present the recent findings from the Baker Risk study. Environment and Climate Change Canada will be hosting a series of webinars from October to December regarding fuel model calculations for the Clean Fuel Regulations. The CPA encourages members to participate in the webinars to learn more about the policy and fuel model details as it pertains to propane. The British Columbia Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy is conducting targeted engagement with select stakeholders and partners in the implementation of its Extended Producer Responsibility Five-Year Action Plan 2021-2026. The plan outlines a phased approach to regulating more products through extended producer responsibility. CPA members proposed recommendations on underground tank permitting and tank evacuation requirements at the Propane Advisory Council meeting with the Technical Safety Standard Authority held on Oct. 5, 2022. The industry’s recommendations to TSSA would result in little or no impact to the industry but would maintain the required level of safety. Nova Scotia Chief Inspector Paul Fowler joined the Atlantic Committee meeting held on Oct. 12, 2022. Discussions included final details on Nova Scotia’s proposed measures to permit the approval of installations between 1 million BTU and 400,000 BTU by email or phone, eliminating the two-signature green tag requirement.
