GMIS International 2014 Annual Conference
"The Art of IT"
August 17-20, 2014
Hyatt Regency
Savannah, GA

Greetings GMIS members,

Brian Kelley here, this year’s conference director. I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to attend this year’s GMIS International Conference set for August 17-20 in beautiful Savannah, Ga!

Our conference theme is "The Art of IT," which brings together today’s IT challenges facing public sector IT professionals and the culture and art of Savannah! Our conference committee, Georgia Chapter and the headquarters team have been working diligently to put together yet another stellar conference with terrific educational sessions and networking opportunities with your GMIS friends and colleagues across the country, as well as our international partners and sponsors. We will, of course, take time out in the evenings to enjoy exciting attractions in the Savannah area to relax, explore, have fun, spend time with old friends and meet some new friends, GMIS-style!

Our first full day of the conference on August 18 has a powerful line-up that will kick-off with Thornton May, futurist and executive director at the IT Leadership Academy. Thornton May is a respected futurist, adviser and educator whose insights on IT strategy have appeared in Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek and numerous computer industry publications. Following Thornton’s powerful keynote will be Dan O’Conner. Dan O’Conner is an internationally acclaimed author, speaker and expert communication trainer. He specializes in delivering specific step-by-step tactics, danger phrases, power phrases and other tools that participants can immediately use to achieve instant results, both at work and at home.

BYOD, shadow IT, cloud, cyber security and disruptive technology are presenting new challenges for 2014 and beyond in our evolving information age and public sector IT. I find great value and numerous "therapeutic" benefits in having the stellar opportunity to meet up with my fellow GMIS International friends face-to-face at our annual conference. Building long-term friendships at our conference yields immeasurable return with my responsibilities as CIO of Portage County, Ohio.

More information on the conference will be forthcoming and registration will open soon. Save the date and join your GMIS friends August 17-20 as we converge in savannah! Conference information is posted at http://www.gmis.org/?2014AnnlConf

I am looking forward to our upcoming Savannah conference with great anticipation!

See you there!

Brian Kelley, CIO, CGIO
2nd Vice President and 2014 Conference Director
