GMIS Friends,
We are now days away from kicking off the 2014 GMIS International Conference in Savannah! This is going to be another AWESOME GMIS International Conference! More than 200 attendees and 35 exhibitors and sponsors will be converging on Savannah for four days of knowledge sharing, networking and taking in all that Savannah offers!
For those arriving early on Sunday, we have pre-conference activities on the streets of Savannah, as well as the Silver IPv6 Network Engineer Certification training opportunity sponsored by: Network Utility Force, Infoblox and Aerohive Networks. Next, please join us for our opening reception, followed by a haunting ghost walk through historic downtown Savannah. The day ends with a hospitality function.
Our first full day of the conference on August 18 has a powerful line-up, which will kick-off with a warm welcome by the Mayor of Savannah. Next, Thornton May will share his insight into the future of IT. May is a respected futurist, adviser and educator whose insights on IT strategy have appeared in Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek and numerous computer industry publications. Following Thornton’s powerful keynote will be Dan O’Connor. O’Connor is an internationally acclaimed author, speaker and expert communication trainer. He specializes in delivering specific step-by-step tactics, danger phrases, power phrases and other tools that participants can immediately use to achieve instant results both at work and at home. Monday evening, we will walk across the street to Moon River Brewing Company, which is Savannah's only brew pub to enjoy delicious food, refreshing beverages, music and some great networking!
On Wednesday afternoon, we are going hit the streets of Savannah and do a walking IT tour to the City of Savannah’s Data Center and Emergency Operations Center, sponsored by Layer 3 Communications! Twenty or so lucky winners of our "Port Tour" prize will have the opportunity to visit Savannah’s impressive port operations to learn more about the technology and security implemented at one of the fastest growing Atlantic seaports in the U.S.! We will then conclude our 2014 conference with a scenic dinner cruise on the Savannah River with a guest from the U.S. Coast Guard!
Again, this year’s conference is going to be awesome, and we will all reap immeasurable benefits with the knowledge, skills, networking and friendships that will be our incredible "takeaways" from Savannah!
I look forward to seeing everyone there!
