During the ALGIM conference in New Zealand, a concerted effort by all LOLA countries was made to encourage MAV Technology of Victoria, Australia to join our efforts for international collaboration.
MAV Technology is the equivalent of GMIS for Victoria, the largest province in Australia, with Melbourne as its center of population. There is no national government IT group; however, MAV (Lisa Bennetto) is working to unify various IT groups the way we have here in the U.S. with GMIS.
As of January 31, MAV Technology of Australia (www.lgict.net.au) has accepted membership into LOLA (Linked Organization of Local Authorities – www.lola-ict.org), which means that GMIS International now has affiliation with a new international partner in Australia.
This has been several years in the works and due to a wonderful opportunity for networking in New Zealand in November, MAV Technology’s membership voted to join LOLA and thus become our newest partner in sharing. The formalization of LOLA into a non-profit organization last year played a significant role in the decision of MAV to join.
Please join me in welcoming MAV Technology to our community of sharing,
