model to the rest of the association community and to "ratchet-up" the

Howard "Bo" Callaway, former congressman, gubernatorial candidate, Secretary of the Army and Callaway Gardens patriarch, died March 15 at the age of 86. In an email statement from his son and CEO of Callaway Gardens, Edward C. Callaway said: "While he may be gone in body, as a founder of Callaway Gardens in lock-step with my grandparents, his spirit will continue to be in everything he helped to create from the Gardens to so much more. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Both our family and the Gardens family will miss him deeply." Read a press release of his life here.

The Social Enterprise Alliance is proud to announce their first ever 50 Under 40 cohort program to develop, engage and connect 50 promising leaders under the age of 40. Program participants participate in a specially-designed Social Enterprise Clinic, receive registration for Summit 14, and represent the voice of promising, emerging leaders in the sector. Megan Branch, CAE is the Vice President of Business Development at Bobby Dodd Institute. The Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA) is the champion for social enterprise in the United States. Their aim is for social enterprise to reach its full potential as a force for positive social change, in service to the common good. To achieve this purpose, they provide social enterprises with the tools and resources they need to succeed, and work on building an optimal environment in which they can thrive.

The American Nurses Association (ANA) was recently designated as a licensed replication partner for the national Standards for Excellence Institute certification program. Debbie Hackman-Bartlett, CAE, CEO, Georgia Nurses Association, has been selected to serve as faculty and on ANA’s internal expert resource team for the
national roll out within nursing non-profit affiliates. This certification program is a path for non-profit organizations to
create a ripple effect for innovation, best practices in organizational
management and performance management so that organizations can live up
to their full potential.

Savannah Marriott Riverfront congratulates Senior Sales Manager Mary Elizabeth McMahon on 23 years of wonderful work at the downtown hotel located in Savannah's historic district. Mary Elizabeth joined the team in February 1991, and was the top producer from 1992 to 2009, 2010 and 2014. Her first Regional Sales Manager position was at the Sea Palms Resort, where she increased room revenue by 500% by reorganizing the regional office, better utilizing personnel and developing a close, personal rapport with clients. Her long tenure is a testament to her hard work and the relationships she's built with both staff and clients. Read the Savannah CEO article here.

After more than 4 years with the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center, Victoria Ten Broeck is saying goodbye. She's accepted a position as a Campaign Associate for the United Way of the Coastal Empire, which
supports over 100 programs with 60 non-profits in the Savannah area. The Campaign
raised over $9million last year. She would love to keep in touch with all of her GSAE friends, so please feel free to email her at vtenbroeck@gmail.com.

DECA will host the International Career Development Conference on May 5 at the Georgia World Congress Center, bringing approximately 16,000 high school students to the city. These high-achieving, business-minded students will participate in DECA’s Competitive Events Program. In order for the conference to operate properly, over 1,000 volunteers
from the Atlanta area are needed to judge and evaluate student
presentations. You are invited and encouraged to serve as a judge, evaluating high school marketing students' presentations or engaging in role-play scenarios. Volunteers may choose which event and time frame they would like to judge. Learn more and register as a judge here.

GSAE is proud to partner with Institute for Organization Management, the U.S. Chamber’s professional development program for non-profit executives, and offer two $500 partial tuition scholarships to one of Institute’s 2014 sites. The two scholarships, available to any Georgia Society of Association Executives’ members, will be awarded to students attending Institute for the first time to assist with enrollment fees and cannot be combined with any other Institute scholarships.
Upon completion of the Institute program, graduates receive the IOM recognition which allows them to use the letters "IOM" in public mention and professional correspondence. The IOM recognition signifies the completion of 96 hours of course instruction in nonprofit management and commitment to the industry. These credit may be applied toward your CAE
certification as Institute’s curriculum is directly tied to the CAE’s
body of knowledge.

When you’re hanging around your association executive fellows, it doesn’t take long for the conversation to digress to the topic of the association management system (AMS). And when it does, no association exec is lacking emotion about the technology that they have to use every day.
Selecting an AMS is one of the most important investments an association has to make. And as humans, we highly value the opinions of our family, friends, and peers. With these two things in mind, Review My AMS has been born. Review My AMS is a website where executives can speak openly and honestly about their experiences with their AMS.
The site allows association executives to anonymously review, comment on, and rate their AMS based on customer service, ease of use, reliability, and customization. End users share their review for free then they get to read all the reviews of their peers for free. It’s a beautiful thing!

Building a culture of data driven decision-making is an end goal for many associations. Making it a reality is not the easiest of propositions. There are many obstacles standing in the way, starting with getting agreement on the data to be collected and ending with how the newfound business intelligence is disseminated and acted upon.
You are invited to participate in a benchmarking study, organized by a group of Philadelphia based association executives that has been designed to strengthen our collective knowledge of how organizations gather, and utilize performance metrics. The study hopes to generate insight on the data we actually collect, how we gather it, ways we utilize it, and more.

Results of the study, including individual case studies, will be shared in a white paper that will be distributed freely throughout the association management community. Results specific to GSAE will also be readily made available.
