Leadership AGC Class Of 2016 Kicks Off New Program
The two-day event began with an informal reception and orientation led by members of the Leadership AGC Class of 2015. Participants and alumni then headed to the residence of Mike and Susan Holland, who opened their lake house to host a dinner. AGC Houston President/CEO Jerry Nevlud; Steve Mechler, Balfour Beatty Construction; and Leadership AGC Class of 2015 alumni spoke to the group about the program's significance. Angela Codie, Gilbane Building Company, also spoke about ACE Mentor and the community service project the group will be taking on during the nine-month program.
The next morning, Patrick J. Kiley, Kiley Advisors, LLC and past executive director of AGC Houston, spoke about the history of AGC and the local chapter. He also offered advice to the aspiring young leaders on the importance of actively serving on AGC Houston committees and local organizations. The Leadership AGC Class of 2015 participants then spent the morning outside, taking part in a variety of team-building exercises that focused on communication, trust, diversity, collaboration and overcoming obstacles. Mike and Kyle Holland and Jason Kopke helped to facilitate each exercise and the debriefing sessions.
