Houston SPCA And Linbeck Group, LLC Celebrate Construction Milestone In Campus For All Animals Expansion
"We have consistently answered the call to meet the rising demand for the Houston SPCA’s programs and services and are proud of the exceptionally high-quality service that we provide to the greater Houston community," stated Houston SPCA President Patricia Mercer. "These expanded facilities will allow us to increase the number of adoptions we are able to do each year and significantly grow the number of animals we impact each year."
Key Houston SPCA elements of the improved state-of-the-art campus include:
- Expansion of the Adoption Center, which will showcase adoptable pets in a state-of-the-art environment that engages visitors and promotes the Houston SPCA’s programs
- Expansion of the wildlife rehabilitation and care center, which will designate additional space for temporary housing and care of birds, mammals, and reptiles
- Thoughtfully designed spaces for wildlife education programs for all ages
- Flight cages for the rehabilitation of songbirds, raptors and seabirds
- Green space and dog parks for visitors
- New areas for horses and farm animals, including a large multi-purpose arena, barns, pastures, and a veterinary clinic
- Education Center to support expanded humane education and programs
- Administrative space to increase operational efficiency and performance
- A 13-apartment dormitory for 4th year Texas A&M veterinary students completing a required, graded rotation at the Houston SPCA.
Phase two will begin immediately after completion and will include renovations and expansion to the existing shelter into a veterinary hospital to increase our facility for animal care, ensure efficient delivery of medical and surgical services, and provide appropriate teaching space for the Texas A&M students and faculty who will be training in our hospital.
