The Houston Airport System is getting a brand new addition. Phase one of the newly developed Houston Airport System General Services Facility is officially completed and construction is now underway on phase two. The new facility aims to consolidate resources for the Houston Airports under one roof and provide multiple operations entities with the security and space they need to keep operations running smoothly.
This $22 million, 51,200 square foot project will support the Houston Airports and give space to house operations such as shuttle bus maintenance, fleet maintenance, supply chain management and airside operations.
JE Dunn and Martinez Architects partnered on the construction of the facility, utilizing pre-engineered structural material to redesign the new facility, which includes warehouse and office space, loading docks, a covered exterior work area and mechanical yard. A main feature of the project includes massive bay doors for loading in vehicles for service. Each of the large bays features vehicle lifting systems and overhead equipment for easy access and maintenance.
