The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is requiring construction companies to file workplace injury and illness reports electronically by Dec. 1 for each location that has more than 20 employees. Different forms are required depending on the size of the company. The construction industry can better keep up with the increased pace of U.S. construction if contractors and owners work to align their interests. Clear objectives and a well-defined structure must be established to get projects started on the right note, according to Tim East, director of risk management for The Walt Disney Co. Here's Looking at You
On Friday, November 10, 2017, AGC Houston hosted Russ Poppe, Executive Director, Harris County Flood Control District and Stephen Costello, Chief Resilience Officer, City of Houston, for an interesting discussion on what they are doing to make significant investments in flood mitigation. The City and County are working together with state and federal entities on the complex issues facing the region such as regulatory and budget constraints, aging infrastructure and technology shortfalls. At the end of the program, Government Affairs Committee Co-Chairs John Marshall, Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, Inc., and Jeremy Stovall, Brookstone, LP, presented each speaker with an AGC Houston hard hat. We look forward to inviting our guests back for a progress update next year.
