AGC Brings the Environmental Experts to You

We're all eager to get back to in-person conferences, but you won't want to miss the exceptional lineup of environmental sessions we've assembled for 2021's Construction Safety, Health & Environmental Virtual Conference July 20-22. That's why we've slashed the price for this year's virtual conference and made it free to all AGC members. Participate at your own pace and learn about climate, community, corporate transparency, species and water issues.

With your membership, you will gain access to three days worth of sessions highlighting the most critical safety, health and environmental compliance and risk issues impacting the business of construction. The virtual setting provides flexibility to accommodate your schedule. And you can even pursue continuing education credits as your time allows: watch live, view session replays or a mix of both. This is made possible with the help of the event sponsors: please extend your thanks to HCSS Software Solutions, InEight, Milwaukee Tools, Mobile Medical, Procore and Zurich. AGC Charities to Host a Volunteer Day During AGC's Annual Convention in Orlando to Benefit "Give Kids the World Village"

AGC Charities, Inc. is organizing a volunteer project for Annual Convention attendees as part of its Operation Opening Doors project. On Monday, September 20, we are asking volunteers to help us make needed renovations to the facilities of Give Kids the World Village. The group’s village is an 89-acre, whimsical resort in Kissimmee, Florida, that provides week-long, cost-free vacations to critically ill children and their families. Since 1986, Give Kids the World Village has welcomed over 176,000 families from all 50 states and 76 countries.

Give Kids the World Village is a truly magical place, but it is not immune from basic maintenance needs. After meeting with the team there, we have identified a handful of projects that a group of volunteers can handle during a single, rewarding day. These projects include replacing a protective fence around the Village’s pond and rehabbing some of the Village’s bathrooms. Watch this video here to learn more about the project. With your help, we can make this year’s AGC Charities Operation Opening Doors project a success.

Please email Brian Turmail, or call 703-459-0238 for more information on how you can get further involved.

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors Taps One of Houston’s Rising Stars in Construction to Serve as its New, East Texas Leader

(HOUSTON, TEXAS July 7, 2021) –– Angela Cotie, LEED AP BD&C, an accomplished and much sought-after leader in the local Houston construction industry, has been selected by Bartlett Cocke

General Contractors to lead the company’s East Texas Region office as its new Vice President of Operations.

Cotie joins the firm with a proven background in construction, having previously served in multiple roles including project executive, project manager, superintendent, scheduler and estimator.

Prior to joining Bartlett Cocke General Contractors, Cotie worked for the Gilbane Building Company as project executive, most recently on the high-profile new construction and renovation project at Bush Intercontinental Airport.

Throughout her career, Cotie has been extremely active in key industry organizations such as the Associated General Contractors, ACE Mentoring Program, the Houston ISD School District, and the Penn State AE Advisory Board, and as such has established a strong network of local Houston clients, architect and engineering partners, and subcontractors.

AGC and Autodesk Launch Media Library to Boost Representation of Diversity in Construction

On June 29, 2021, The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and Autodesk launched the Construction Diversity Image Library, a collection of photographs for use by the media featuring diverse individuals in the construction workforce. The library will launch with an established collection of images and as part of the initiative, organizations from across the design, engineering and building industry are invited to contribute additional photographs.

In both 2019 and 2020, the annual workforce survey conducted by the AGC and Autodesk identified a steady and unfulfilled demand for more talent, with up to 80 percent of contractors reporting they are unable to find skilled workers. To fill the workforce gap and deliver on the growing call for more buildings, construction needs to attract and retain new talent.

 Keeping Safety Viral

Now more than ever, as the state continues to re-open for business, it is imperative that we all adhere to the safety protocols that have been put in place. It is equally important that each of you continue spreading that message up and down the supply chain. As has been stated many times, COVID-19 is global, but personal. Each of us need to do our part to KEEP SAFETY VIRAL. For more information, please visit our COVID-19: Construction Industry Resources page.
