AGC Houston Hosts Last Safety Committee Meeting of the YearOn November 11, 2021, AGC Houston held its last Safety Committee Meeting of the year. Those who attended the meeting gained a lot of insight from Anthony G. Stergio, Attorney of Andrews Myers, PC, on the new OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard that has recently been put in place The AGC Houston Safety Committee members are dedicated to supporting the enhancement of jobsite safety at every level. Each meeting is structured to provide timely information and training to address the challenges of maintaining a safe and healthful workplace in today’s fast-paced environment. Want to get involved? AGC Houston Recognizes Excellence in SafetyAGC Houston celebrated safety professionals dedicated to creating a safe work environment at the Annual Safety meeting on November 9 at the Briar Club. The event served to recognize the Safety Excellence Award and Ray Lambright Award recipients. Special guest, John Choate, accomplished executive, entrepreneur and former Navy SEAL officer, shared anecdotes of his experiences as a Navy SEAL, emphasized the importance of teamwork, and shared tips on how to integrate both teamwork and leadership into the business world. OSHA Issues COVID-19 Workplace Emergency Temporary StandardThe Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued an emergency temporary standard (ETS) to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission in the workplace. The ETS establishes binding requirements to protect unvaccinated employees of large employers with 100 or more employees from the risk of contracting COVID-19 in the workplace. Camarata Masonry Systems, Ltd. (CMS) Honored With Craftsmanship Excellence AwardCamarata Masonry Systems, Ltd. (CMS) was given the first Craftsmanship Excellence Award by the Cast Stone Institute for its work on the Brockman Hall for Opera at Rice University. The Cast Stone Institute was formed in 1927 and is the common voice for the cast stone industry disseminating current information and standards regarding the design, manufacturing, installation and use of cast stone.
