Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee Attends AGC Houston Government Affairs Committee MeetingOn Friday March 24th, the AGC Houston Government Affairs Committee gathered to discuss issues relevant to the Chapter’s advocacy efforts. The group welcomed guest speaker Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee, who talked about about furthering the relationship between the county and the construction industry as a whole. A recap was given of this year’s AGC-TBB Legislative Day, including the priority bills for our industry, all those that AGC-TBB is watching closely (2023 AGC-TBB Legislative Day - bill list + one-pagers, AGC-TBB tracked bills thru March 5 2023, Bills tracked 1-3 as of March 12, Bills tracked 4 + THC as of March 12 ) and the impact our members have had on current legislation. The group also discussed the importance of the PAC (Political Action Committee), which supports the election campaigns of pro-construction candidates. AGC Houston Women in Construction Attend Construction Career Collaborative's SheBuilds Event at Katy ISDOn March 21, 2023, the AGC Houston Women in Construction Committee participated in Construction Career Collaborative's SheBuilds event at Katy ISD! At the event, over 1,700 young women were introduced to the many career opportunities in the construction industry. Huge thanks to our volunteers, staff, and C3 for such a successful event.

AGC Workforce Development Scholarship
The AGC Education and Research Foundation offers Workforce Development Scholarships to students enrolled in accredited technical schools or craft training programs in any discipline of commercial construction. Students in technical or approved craft training programs will have until June 1 to apply for $1,000 scholarships (renewal for up to two years) from the AGC Education and Research Foundation. The AGC Education and Research Foundation is committed to taking steps to ensure students have the technical skills needed to immediately enter into the commercial construction workforce.
