AGC Houston Welcomes Leadership AGC Class of 2024

On January 25-26, the new Leadership AGC (LAGC) class of 2024 gathered at Moody Gardens for a two-day team-building retreat. During the retreat, the class had the opportunity to get to know one another better and engage in team-building exercises. Huge thanks to our facilitators: Tara Anderson from TDIndustries, Inc., Luke Roach from Ro-Berg, Rachel Ternois from O'Donnell/Snider Construction, Kenneth Loper from ORION Group Holdings, Inc., Alfredo Gonzales from ORION Group Holdings, Inc., Mike Coleman from Gilbane Building Company, Jon Karsten from Karsten Interior Services, LP, and Joe Miller from Texas AirSystems, for facilitating the program.

Submissions Are Open for the 2023 AGC-TBB Outstanding Construction Awards

Calling all builders! Submit your top-notch projects for the 2023 AGC-TBB Outstanding Construction Awards! Join the AGC Houston Construction Leadership Council for 2024

Are you interested in joining the AGC Houston Construction Leadership Council? The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) is a national AGC initiative designed to address the needs of young professionals in the industry. To date, more than 95 chapters have established a CLC.

Through educational programs and events that focus on the professional development and leadership skills of the industry’s future leaders, the CLC offers members the opportunity to exchange ideas and to learn from experts about issues facing construction professionals. Individuals who are interested in personal growth, in their company growth and in the construction industry, are encouraged to apply.

We have a variety of amazing events planned for this year that you won't want to miss, including our CLC Golf Tournament, CLC Poker Tournament, CLC Cornhole Tournament, educational field trips/happy hours, and more! Southeast Texas Design Build Competition | March 27-28 | Houston, TX

We're excited to partner with the Construction Industry Education Foundation for the 2024 Design Build Competition in Houston! ACE Mentor Houston is the local affiliate of the national ACE organization and is a collaborative effort to bring the multifaceted construction industry, educational institutions, and local community together to expose high school students to the world of architecture, construction, engineering, and building trades. In this after-school mentoring program, student teams work directly with professionals from the A/E/C industry to design hypothetical projects, tour local construction sites, and visit architectural, engineering, and construction offices. The program runs from October to April and is operating with a hybrid program this year with virtual weekly mentor sessions and in-person activities to include site visits, building activities, and architectural walking tours.

For students, it is a unique chance to discover and develop new skills, solidify goals, and get on track toward exciting and rewarding careers. In addition, many students form positive relationships with industry professionals who can provide important references for obtaining college admissions, scholarships, internships, and full‐time employment.

For professionals, ACE provides an opportunity to give back to the community while developing the next generation in the building industry and networking with other professionals who share the same passions.  If you would like to get involved in ACE as a mentor, student, industry partner, or committee member, please contact us (https://www.acementorhouston.org/). AGC Houston: FREE Fall Prevention in Construction Training in English and Spanish

NO-COST one-day fall prevention training program based on OSHA standards and best practices. Course is offered in both English and Spanish. Topics will cover fall protection statistics, OSHA standards for fall protection, how to identify fall hazards, selection and criteria of fall protection systems and equipment, and fall protection training requirements. Students will be provided training materials and digital certificate of attendance.
