Beginning in early 2016, information reporting provisions under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act require many employers to file annual information returns with the Internal Revenue Service and provide annual statements to employees containing health plan coverage information.

The Internal Revenue Service has issued Notice 2016-4 extending the 2015 filing deadlines for information reporting under Internal Revenue Code Sections 6055 and 6056.  Notice 2016-4 provides an automatic extension for the filing deadlines. For a complete list of filing deadlines, click here.

An effective safety program can help keep your employees on the job, reduce your premium and earn your company dividends. CompGroup AGC was created in 1993 by various Texas members of the Associated General Contractors of America to provide a better option for workers’ compensation coverage.

Contact your insurance agent and tell them you want a CompGroup AGC quote or contact program administrator Roberts & Crow at 800-406-9614 — ask for Julie Schatz.

AGC News
As just announced by AGC via its 2016 Environmental Rules Watch List, the construction industry can expect to see a wide range of regulatory action in the coming year, spanning the air, water and waste program areas. AGC works with federal agency staff during the rulemaking process to ensure that the construction industry’s voice is heard—analyzing and expressing the industry’s views on federal proposals to enact or modify laws that regulate contractors. AGC created a handout to help you track the development of environmental rules throughout 2016 and even weigh in on issues that are important to you and your business.

Just before the Christmas holidays, AGC Houston members headed to the HESS club on December 17 to hear from Dr. William Zoghbi, Professor of Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College; Methodist DeBakey Cardiology Associates. A leader in cardiovascular imaging, Dr. Zoghbi has developed new techniques to evaluate valvular disorders and founded the Cardiovascular Imaging Institute. His fascinating presentation regarding heart health and new, non-invasive evaluation of diastolic function prompted numerous questions from the audience. The lecture was part of the Patrick J. Kiley Excellence In Leadership Scholarship breakfast series that precede the scholarships that will be awarded to university and college bound-students in May.

AGC Houston is accepting applications for scholarships. All college-bound students who are majoring in a construction-related discipline or are dependents of an employee of an AGC Houston member company may apply.Click here for details or contact Charlene Anthony.
