On November 13, 2020, AGC submitted comments generally supportive of recently proposed revisions to the Nationwide Permits (NWP).  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposal included revisions to several NWPs, including modifications to the thresholds for streambed loss for certain permits, establishment of a new mitigation requirement, and clarifications to the pre-construction notification process.

AGC Houston members are encouraged to take part in this important survey, which will be conducted by Sage. The survey results will be compiled trough early December, and Chief Economist Ken Simonson and other AGC staff will prepare any analysis of the findings.

Rusty DeBorde has joined JE Dunn Construction Company as the new Vice President, Senior Client Solutions Director, of the Houston office. In this position, he will lead all Business Development efforts in the Houston metropolitan area and southeast Texas.

 

DeBorde is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin and brings over 18 years of business development, marketing and sales experience to the Houston team. Prior to joining JE Dunn, Rusty has served as Vice President of a prestigious national construction consulting firm and Director of Business Development of a premier local engineering firm. Under his tenure as President of a regional residential builder, the company was named 2009’s Builder of the Year of the Pearland/Bay Area.

As a 40-year Pearland resident, he has served on the Pearland YMCA board, is past president of the local nonprofit organization, PATH, a current member of Pearland Lion’s Club, and served as president of the Pearland ISD School Board for four years, where he was involved in multiple collaborative building efforts and working relationships with the city.

Construction employment increased by 27,000 jobs in November, as continuing robust gains in residential categories masked more sluggish increases in nonresidential jobs, according to an analysis by AGC of America data released recently. AGC cautioned, however, that pandemic-induced project cancellations and looming tax bills for firms that used Paycheck Protection Program loans to save jobs threaten to undermine future job growth in the sector.
